Research Assistant (Laboratory Research)

Job Description

Key Responsibilities :

Perform molecular biology experiments (including Western blotting, RNA extraction and various types of PCR reactions), cell culture, immunohistochemical assays, flow cytometry and animal studies.
Conduct statistical analysis and report the results to the supervisor.
Conduct database search, literature review and paper preparation.
Process biological samples for specimen banking and DNA/RNA/protein extraction.
Obtain written consents from cancer patients.
Handle mice breeding and clean bedding.
Perform duties outside normal office hours when required.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Entry Requirements :

University Graduates with experience; OR
F.5 / S.5 with
(a)    HKCEE 5 passes including English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language; OR
(b)    5 subjects in HKDSE attaining the level specified below:
(i)    Level 2 in English Language & Chinese Language; AND
(ii)    Level 2 in New Senior Secondary Subjects / “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects under this category) / Grade E in Other Language subjects.
AND diploma in a specialized function AND relevant experience.
Preferred Attributes / Exposure :

Possess a bachelor degree or above with major in biochemistry, biology, biotechnology and biomedical-related sciences.
Research experience in cancer study, molecular and cellular assays, pre-clinical drug study, in vitro and in vivo studies will be an advantage.
Proficiency in SPSS, MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access.
Pleasant and mature personality, self-motivated, responsible and able to work independently.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Good and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
